**Maiden's Tower (Kız Kulesi):**
The Maiden's Tower, located on one of the two islands in the Bosphorus, has a rich history and legends associated with its existence. After undergoing extensive restoration work, the tower is now open to local and foreign tourists. Historically, it served as a security building for the Bosphorus and was used to collect taxes from ships passing through.
**Legends Associated with Maiden's Tower:**
1. **Security and Tax Collection:** Maiden's Tower was historically a crucial point for controlling access to the Bosphorus. An iron chain was stretched between the historical peninsula and the tower. Ships wishing to enter the Bosphorus had to pass through a small area between Maiden's Tower and the Asian continent, paying an entrance fee.
2. **Emperor's Daughter and the Snake:** According to another legend, a Byzantine emperor dreamed that his daughter would be killed by a snake. To prevent this, the emperor's daughter started living in the tower. Tragically, she died from a snake bite that entered a food basket, leading to the tower being named the Maiden's Tower.
3. **Use as a Hospital:** Throughout history, including during epidemics like the coronavirus, the Maiden's Tower has been repurposed as a hospital. Patients afflicted by various diseases were treated within its walls.

- Boats departing from Galataport on the European side have scheduled departures at 11:00 am, 12:30, 14:15, 15:30, and 17:00 (Note: The 17:00 boat does not return to Galataport; visitors can continue to Üsküdar-Salacak pier).
