My wife and I were on a Eastern Mediterranean cruise on the MSC Magnifica. Not wanting to fight the crowded overpriced tours offered by the cruise, we booked with Rasim at Istanbulguideservices.com. The booking process was easy and the tour itinerary was flexible.
We arrived in Istanbul less than happy as the airline lost our luggage and we had to spend the whole cruise in the same clothing. We were less than impressed but our mood lifted when Rasim met us at the dock as planned. He was there early with the vehicle and driver waiting. We went to all the sights and were impressed by the knowledge and passion Rasim has for his city and the history surrounding it. It was great having our own vehicle and we were able to beat most of the crowds from the cruise. Rasim also took us to a great restaurant for authentic Turkish cuisine.
Due to the ship being late arriving in Istanbul, our planned tours had to be modified. Rasim was great in accommodating all that my wife and I wanted to do in order for us to get the most out of the tour-he also made sure that we beat the Istanbul rush-hour traffic to arrive at our ship on time.
Also, as a side note, Rasim contacted us when we arrived home to make sure that we had received our lost luggage. He even provided phone numbers for the Turkish baggage handlers in case we wanted to try and phone them in Turkey to track down our bags.
All in all we owe him a lot of gratitude and thank him for a wonderful and memorable day in Istanbul.
Rasim = First-class customer service even after we left Istanbul!
We found Istanbul Tour & Guide Service on Tripadvisor. Our guide, Rasim Terzi, was a joy to be with. He truly gave us a "behind-the-scenes" look at Istanbul, including taking us through an old neighborhood and onto the rooftop of a building (literally) for a great view in the city! He's also a "foodie" and shared his love for food with us by taking us to several of his favorite local places (for fresh Turkish Delight, homemade ice cream and a great Turkish lunch). The day felt like it was spent with a warm family friend, rather than with some of the bored, "canned" guides we've been stuck with in the past. Rasim not only helped us with some shopping missions while we were in town, but he also went to a store THREE TIMES after we were back in the States to help us deal with some problems we had with a lamp we bought!! That's what I call going above and beyond! He'll be the first we call when we're planning to return to Turkey.
I thoroughly enjoyed Rasim's two day tour of Istanbul. He was full of interesting facts and very pleasant to be with. He was on time both days to pick us up and he was most gracious. I highly recommend him for anyone interested in knowing the real Istanbul. He will be booked again by us.
This was the best money spent anywhere! Rasim was an excellent tour guide, full of local knowledge and also went out of his way to take us to little known places. Taking us up to the rooftops to see a birds eye view of Istanbul and where Skyfall was filmed was the clincher for me. Thank you Rasim, will be back and will seek you out again.
