Where to swim in Istanbul, which has seas on all four sides

Where to swim in Istanbul

As a tourist guide, we find it difficult to answer the question of where to swim in Istanbul. While Istanbul is surrounded by the sea on all four sides, I generally recommend tourists to go to the Prince Islands for swimming or to go to the beaches in the north of Istanbul.because it is very dangerous to swim everywhere in Istanbul due to the hidden currents in the Bosphorus and also because of the ship traffic in the Bosphorus. In terms of life safety, you can swim in places allowed in Istanbul, except for the Bosphorus.Let's start listing the places that are allowed to swim in Istanbul:

We can recommend you as Florya, the closest place to swim in Istanbul. You can go to Florya with Marmaray, the most famous public transport of Istanbul. You can swim on the beaches operated by the municipality in Florida. There are also toilets, bathrooms and changing cabins on these beaches.

While in Florida, you can also visit the aquarium in the shopping center here. You can also visit the Florya Mansion, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, spent time during the summers.

You can see the wooden mansions where many historical Turkish movies were shot in Yeşilköy district. You can have lunch or dinner at the taverns on the Yeşilköy coast.

Princes İsland

One of the places to swim in Istanbul is the Princes' Islands. You can go to the Prince Islands by public transportation from Eminönü or Kabataş. Since the use of motor vehicles is prohibited on the islands, you can have fun in the cold waters of the Marmara Sea by getting rid of the noise life of Istanbul. You can also have a nice lunch at the fish restaurants in the Islands. Also if you rent a bike on the Islands. You can explore the colorful streets of the island.

Şile, Ağva ,Riva, Kilyos, Rumeli Feneri

The settlement in Istanbul is generally in the south of Istanbul. The north of Istanbul is considered the lungs of Istanbul. and Istanbul North is full of forests. There are beautiful fishing towns where these forests meet the sea. Of these towns, Kilyos and Rumeli Feneri are on the European side, Şile Ağva and Riva are on the Asian side. Public transport to and from these regions in Europe and Asia is not very frequent. Therefore, I recommend you to join the tours to these regions or rent a private car. When you go to Şile, you can visit the Şile castle and Şile lighthouse. You can buy sile cloths and clothes unique to this region in its bazaars and bazaars. Ağva, on the other hand, is a settlement established on an area where two rivers meet the sea. In this way, you have the chance to swim in both fresh and salt water. You can also join boat tours organized on the river. Or you can do ATV safari in the forest area around Ağva. Attention!!! The Black Sea Salinity rate is very low. There are many cases of drowning. If you are not a very good swimmer, I would advise you not to go too far from the shore.

Daily Boat Tour

Boat tours are organized in Istanbul with the arrival of the summer season. Boats departing from the Golden Horn go to the Black Sea or the Marmara Sea. Boats wait all day long at points suitable for swimming. During this time, you can swim in the cool waters of the Black Sea or Marmara.

Private Yatch tour

Another swimming activity in Istanbul is renting a private yacht. You can have fun with your family or friends by going to the points suitable for swimming with your daily charter yacht.
